Rico Nasty: Anger Management

For this project I had to make a vinyl box, vinyl sleeve, and an additional graphic of our choice (photo book, poster, etc.) for an album of our choice.
I chose to do Rico Nasty’s Anger Management album with Kenny Beats.
This album was recorded in a span of five days and Rico Nasty describes that time as “therapeutic”. That description gave me the inspiration to create a collage creation of Rico Nasty using her past looks, since art therapy is used by many people in anger management counseling. After solidifying the pose and composition for the front of the vinyl sleeve, I had my idea for the back, which was to create the track list out of her boot print and cracks in the ground. I did this to ensure the stylization was consistent and cohesive with the front.
For the vinyl box, I decided to use to contrasting images of Rico Nasty with the intent to showcase the anger that she is managing; and to pay homage to her original album cover which incorporates a mouth protruding from her forehead. I really enjoyed the color scheme used in the original cover, so I also used purple and yellow/orange.
When making the poster I continued with the collage method but utilized more digital methods than the vinyl sleeve, such as filters, perspective tools, and color manipulation. For this design I relied much more on repetition and composition.
